Hwa-Yin Performance Dress Code
Western Style
1. Top: Solid white color long sleeves tuxedo shirt to be worn under
Hwa-Yin vest and Hwa-Yin neck bow tie on.
2. Bottom: Solid navy solid color dress pants for boys, Solid navy color pleated knee length skirts for girls in JA & JB group. For senior girls, solid black color floor length skirts preferred “A” shape without decorations such as raffles, trims, and laces.
3. Socks: Solid white color, no print, above ankle socks for girls in JA & JB groups. Solid dark color socks for all boys. No socks or skin color panty hose for senior girls.
4. Shoes: Black color dress shoes for all. No toes shown.
5. Hair: Neat. Girls wear princess hair style (part of hair tied high on the back) and light make-up on the day of concert.
No loose hair should cover part of face. All hair band color should be solid dark color.
Chinese Style
1. Navy blue long costumes for all boys with Navy color dress pants under.
2. Same socks and shoes requirements as the Western Style.
3. For dance, white or light pink dance shoes for girls unless other types required by Teacher.
4. Hair style for girls may be different such as one or two braids for dancing.
Tribal Style
1. Solid, no-print, black T-shirt under Hwa-Yin Tribal costume vest.
2. Girls wear solid black short length shorts under Tribal costume skirt.
4. No socks and shoes.
Note: Shining head-band tied the node on the left side above ear. They will be distributed when changing the costumes.
Hwa-Yin Costume Guidelines
1. The following are distributed to every member at the beginning of joining Hwa-Yin. The western style and tribal style costumes are to be kept over the years by the members until leaving Hwa-Yin.
1-1 Western Style reversible Vest and Bow Tie
1-2 Tribal Style Vest and Skirt or Shorts
2. The following are distributed for each performance.
Chinese Costumes – Girls, Fong-Shan, and Boys, Long-Robe.
Tribal costume accessories – such as -- head band, necklace, bells, leg ties
The Chinese costumes are to be kept by Hwa-Yin costume responsible parents at all time except for during performances. Hwa-Yin Chinese costumes and western style vest are not to lent or rent to any parties including its own members. Hwa-Yin costumes represent the choir’s image. They are also the important properties. Any public performance not presented by Hwa-Yin but wearing Hwa-Yin costumes is not permitted.
3. The following are the items you need to prepare on your own.
A. For Western Style:
1. Solid white color long sleeves tuxedo shirt for all members.
2. Solid navy solid color dress pants for boys.
3. Solid navy color pleated knee length skirts for girls in JA & JB groups.
4. Solid black color floor length skirts for senior girls.
5. Socks and Shoes.
6. Hair band and cosmetic for light make-up.
B. For Chinese Style:
1. Navy color dress pants for all boys.
2. Socks and shoes.
3. Dance shoes for dance girls
C. For Tribal Style:
1. Solid, no-print, black T-shirt.
2. Solid black short length shorts for all girls
For items needed to prepare on your own, there are items may be available for renting.
Price List for rental items: Rental fee and Deposit fee should pay up front. Deposit is refunded upon returning of the item.
